Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – The Start of Your Kenya Safari Adventure

Welcome to Kenya! Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your safari journey officially begins. You’ll be warmly greeted by a friendly representative from our team, who will assist with your luggage and provide a private transfer to your hotel.

Tonight, you’ll check in at the Panari Hotel, a modern and elegant hotel conveniently located just a short drive from the airport. After a long flight, take time to settle in, relax, and refresh. You can enjoy the hotel’s amenities, grab a bite at the restaurant, or simply unwind in your room.

If time allows, you may choose to explore a bit of Nairobi, East Africa’s dynamic capital city known for its lively markets, warm hospitality, and rich blend of culture and wildlife.

This first night in Nairobi is all about easing into your surroundings and preparing for the incredible Kenya safari adventure that awaits-spanning rugged landscapes, rare wildlife, and unforgettable game drives across some of Africa’s top safari parks.

Day 2: Nairobi to Samburu – Into Kenya’s Rugged Northern Wilderness

After a hearty breakfast at your Nairobi hotel, begin your journey north in a private 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser-the ideal vehicle for traversing Kenya’s diverse landscapes. As you leave the city behind, the scenery gradually transforms from lush highlands to the dramatic semi-arid terrain of northern Kenya.

Your destination is the Samburu National Reserve, a remote and wild region known for its striking scenery and rare northern species found only in this part of the country. Samburu offers a more off-the-beaten-path safari experience, with fewer crowds and truly unique wildlife encounters.

Arrive in time for lunch and check-in at Samburu Simba Lodge, your comfortable base nestled on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. After a refreshing break, set out on your first afternoon game drive in the reserve. Keep your eyes peeled for iconic species like elephants, reticulated giraffes, Beisa oryx, and Grevy’s zebras, as well as predators such as lions and leopards.

As the sun begins to set over the rugged northern plains, return to the lodge for dinner. Enjoy a relaxing evening under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the wild, and prepare for more exciting safari adventures ahead.

Day 3: Full-Day Safari in Samburu – Rare Wildlife & Authentic Samburu Culture

Wake up to the peaceful sounds of the African bush and enjoy a hearty breakfast at the lodge before setting off for a full-day safari across the rugged landscapes of Samburu National Reserve. This region is one of Kenya’s hidden gems, offering some of the best chances to see rare northern species that don’t occur elsewhere in the country.

As you explore the arid plains and acacia-dotted terrain, look out for unique animals like the Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk (also known as the giraffe antelope), Beisa oryx, and the Somali ostrich. Birdlife is also rich in this reserve, making it a paradise for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers.

After an exciting morning of game viewing, return to the lodge for a freshly prepared hot lunch and a short rest. Later in the afternoon, you can choose between another game drive to deepen your wildlife sightings, or opt for a cultural visit to a local Samburu village. Day 4: Samburu to Nyahururu – Equator Stop & Thomson’s Falls Nature Walk

After breakfast, bid farewell to the wilds of Samburu as you journey south toward the lush highlands of Nyahururu, a peaceful town located along the equator and famous for its natural beauty. Along the way, enjoy a scenic drive through diverse landscapes, with a stop at the equator line for a memorable photo opportunity-where you can stand with one foot in each hemisphere!

Arrive in time for lunch at Panari Resort Nyahururu, a tranquil retreat nestled in the cool highland climate. After check-in, take a relaxing afternoon nature walk to the majestic Thomson’s Falls, a 74-meter cascade surrounded by lush greenery and sweeping views. You’ll also have a chance to visit the nearby Hippo Pools, where these gentle giants can sometimes be spotted wallowing in the waters below the falls.

Return to the resort and unwind in the crisp mountain air. Enjoy dinner and a restful overnight stay, recharging for the next leg of your Kenya safari adventure.

Day 5: Nyahururu to Lake Nakuru & Lake Naivasha – Flamingos, Rhinos & Rift Valley Lakes

After an early breakfast, depart the highlands of Nyahururu and head south into the heart of the Great Rift Valley. Your first stop is Lake Nakuru National Park, a compact yet wildlife-rich sanctuary renowned for its colorful flocks of flamingos, endangered black and white rhinos, and rare Rothschild’s giraffes.

Embark on a thrilling game drive through the park’s acacia woodlands and open grasslands, keeping an eye out for lions, leopards, buffaloes, and other safari favorites. Lake Nakuru is also a birdwatcher's paradise, with over 400 recorded species-making it a must-visit for nature lovers.

After your morning safari, enjoy lunch at a lodge in Nakuru before continuing the scenic drive to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake fringed by papyrus and teeming with birdlife. Upon arrival, check in at Lake Naivasha Resort, nestled along the lake’s edge.

Spend your afternoon relaxing at the lodge or take an optional boat ride on Lake Naivasha, where you’ll glide past hippos, fish eagles, and a variety of aquatic birds in a peaceful, natural setting. Return to the lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay surrounded by the calm of the Rift Valley.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha to Maasai Mara – Into the Heart of Big Five and The Great Migration

After breakfast at Lake Naivasha, set off for the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s premier safari destination and home to the iconic Big Five. Day 7: Full-Day Safari in Maasai Mara – Witness the Great Wildebeest Migration (Seasonal)

Rise early and enjoy breakfast at the lodge before setting off for a full-day game drive across the endless plains of the Maasai Mara, Kenya’s most iconic safari destination. Known for its abundant wildlife and scenic beauty, the Mara offers some of Africa’s finest game viewing year-round-and during the right season (typically July to October), it becomes the dramatic stage for the Great Wildebeest Migration.

Today, you’ll have the chance to spot the Big Five-Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes, and Rhinos as well as cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, giraffes, zebras, and countless antelope species. With a bit of luck, you may witness river crossings or predator-prey interactions that define the magic of the Maasai Mara.

You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch right in the heart of the savannah, surrounded by nature and the sounds of the wild. After lunch, continue exploring the reserve's rich habitats in search of more wildlife encounters, with your expert guide helping spot and interpret the action.

As the sun sets over the plains, head back to Mara Simba Lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening. Reflect on the day’s thrilling sightings and rest up for another exciting day in the wild.

Day 8: Another Day in the Mara – Wildlife Safari or Maasai Cultural Visit

Wake up to another day in the heart of the Maasai Mara, where adventure awaits around every corner. Today is yours to enjoy at your own pace-whether you prefer more time out in the wild or a deeper connection with local culture.

You may choose to embark on extended game drives, venturing deeper into the reserve to search for elusive predators like leopards or hyenas, or to catch a final glimpse of the Big Five in their natural habitat. The Maasai Mara is alive with wildlife at all times of the year, offering endless opportunities for remarkable sightings and photography.

Alternatively, you can opt for a visit to a traditional Maasai village, where you’ll gain insight into the customs, daily life, and rich heritage of one of Kenya’s most iconic tribes. Enjoy traditional dances, explore hand-built manyattas (homes), and learn how the Maasai coexist with nature.

Return to Mara Simba Lodge in the evening for a delicious dinner and a final night under the stars. Let the sounds of the African wilderness lull you to sleep as your unforgettable Kenya safari nears its end.

Day 9: Maasai Mara to Nairobi – Farewell to the Wild

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Mara Simba Lodge, taking in the last peaceful moments of your stay in the Maasai Mara. After check-out, begin your scenic drive back to Nairobi, retracing your journey through the picturesque landscapes of the Great Rift Valley-with rolling hills, escarpments, and rural charm all along the way.

Upon arrival in Nairobi in the afternoon, you’ll be dropped off at either your city hotel or directly at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight, depending on your travel plans. Optional use of a day room can be arranged if you have a late departure.

As your 9-day Kenya safari holiday comes to a close, you’ll leave with unforgettable memories-from the rare wildlife of Samburu and the misty waterfalls of Nyahururu, to the flamingos of Lake Nakuru and the thrilling game drives in the Maasai Mara, one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations.
