Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve

Your Kenya safari begins with a morning pick up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After a safari briefing, depart in a private 4x4 Land Cruiser for the world famous Maasai Mara, one of the top safari holidays in Africa. Traverse the dramatic Great Rift Valley, pausing at a scenic viewpoint to capture sweeping vistas ideal for photography safaris.

Continue past Maasai homesteads and highland farms before arriving at Orng’atuny Mara King Camp in time for a welcome lunch. Nestled in a quiet corner of the reserve, the camp offers a serene atmosphere and front row access to the region’s rich wildlife.

In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive across the rolling savannahs. Keep your camera ready as you search for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes. The Maasai Mara is one of the best destinations for big cats safaris. Leopards and cheetahs may be spotted stalking prey in the tall grasses.

Return to camp before sunset and enjoy a relaxed dinner under the stars as the sounds of the African night fill the air.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive – Wildebeest Migration, Big Five and Cultural Visit

Wake up to the calls of birds and enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting out for a full day game drive with a picnic lunch. This is your chance to explore deeper into the heart of the Maasai Mara, following seasonal wildlife movements and experiencing the true magic of an African safari.

Between July and October, the Mara hosts the Great Wildebeest Migration as over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles journey across the plains in search of greener pastures. If your Kenya itinerary coincides with this event, you may witness dramatic scenes at the Mara River where crocodiles lie in wait during the crossing.

Year round, the Maasai Mara offers exceptional game viewing. Search for the elusive Big Five including lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. The park is also a haven for birdwatching in Kenya with over 470 species including crowned cranes and hornbills.

Day 3: Maasai Mara to Nairobi – Sunrise Safari and Return Journey

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast with views of the plains before checking out. This is your last chance to spot iconic wildlife on this unforgettable Kenya wildlife safari.

Depart Maasai Mara and begin the scenic drive back to Nairobi, retracing your route through the Great Rift Valley. You’ll arrive in the late afternoon and be dropped off at your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Optional arrangements for a day room and lunch in Nairobi can be made for evening flights.
