DAY 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara – Great Rift Valley Views and First Game Drive

Your Kenya wildlife safari begins with a morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After a short safari briefing, you’ll head southwest in a 4x4 Land Cruiser, journeying through the breathtaking Great Rift Valley.

Stop at a scenic viewpoint to take in the vast escarpments—an ideal start for your photography safari in Kenya. Continue through highland farms and Maasai homesteads, arriving at Mara Sopa Lodge in time for lunch. Settle in and enjoy the serene location overlooking the Mara's eastern edge.

In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive across the golden plains of the Maasai Mara. This is prime Big Five safari territory, home to lions, elephants, buffaloes, elusive leopards, and the swift cheetah. You’ll also encounter herds of zebras, giraffes, gazelles, and more, set against a backdrop of iconic African landscapes.

Return to the lodge for dinner and an evening at leisure, perhaps relaxing on your veranda as the sun sets over the savannah.

DAY 2: Maasai Mara – Full Day Game Drive, Mara River and Maasai Cultural Visit

After an early breakfast, depart for a full-day Maasai Mara safari with a packed picnic lunch. Today you’ll venture deeper into the reserve, following migration routes and riverbanks in search of thrilling wildlife scenes.

If traveling between July and October, you may witness the dramatic Great Wildebeest Migration -when over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross the Mara River in a breathtaking display of survival. Crocodiles lurk below as predators wait on the riverbanks, creating unforgettable moments for big cats safari lovers and photography enthusiasts alike.

Even outside migration season, the Maasai Mara offers exceptional year-round wildlife encounters. Look out for hyenas, jackals, hippos, and hundreds of bird species, including crowned cranes, vultures, and bee-eaters-making this a top destination for birdwatching in Kenya.

Later in the day, enjoy a cultural visit to a traditional Maasai village. Learn about Maasai customs, dances, and their nomadic lifestyle in an enriching experience that supports the local community and adds depth to your Kenya safari experience.

Return to Mara Sopa Lodge for dinner and a peaceful night surrounded by nature.

DAY 3:

Day 3: Maasai Mara to Nairobi – Final Game Views and Return Journey

Meals: Breakfast | Optional: Meals and Day Room Use 

After breakfast, enjoy your final morning in the wild. Take in the fresh air and watch for wildlife just beyond the lodge as you check out. Depart the Maasai Mara with vivid memories and begin your return journey to Nairobi via the Great Rift Valley.

If your flight departs later in the evening, you may choose to enjoy lunch and a day room at a Nairobi hotel (optional, at extra cost) to refresh before your airport transfer.

You’ll be dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your hotel, marking the end of an unforgettable African safari.
