You will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning and head to Nairobi National Park, with entry scheduled for 6:00 AM. Just a short drive from Nairobi’s city center, this beautiful park offers a true wilderness experience right on the edge of the capital. It is one of the only national parks in the world that borders a major city, giving you the unique chance to enjoy wildlife with the city skyline in the background.
As the sun begins to rise, the park comes alive with activity. The cool morning hours are perfect for spotting animals such as lions, leopards, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and many species of antelope. The park is also home to more than 400 bird species, making it a paradise for bird lovers. You will drive through open savannah grasslands dotted with acacia trees, and along rivers and seasonal dams where hippos and crocodiles can often be seen. The early morning light creates beautiful scenery that is perfect for photography and peaceful game viewing.
After your exciting game drive, which usually lasts about four to five hours depending on animal sightings, you will visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage (public visiting hours are from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM). Here, you will have the chance to meet rescued baby elephants that are being cared for before they are reintroduced into the wild. You will learn about their individual stories, how they were rescued, and the dedicated work of the keepers who look after them. Watching the elephants being fed and playing in the mud is a heartwarming experience that supports an important conservation cause.
You will then have lunch at a nearby restaurant at your own cost, before continuing with the afternoon activities.
Later, you will proceed to the Giraffe Centre, home to the endangered Rothschild giraffes. You will get the opportunity to interact closely with these gentle giants, feed them from a raised platform, and even take memorable photos. The Centre also shares information about giraffe conservation and the efforts made to protect them in Kenya.
After enjoying time with the giraffes, you will be taken back to your hotel, bringing an end to a wonderful day filled with wildlife, learning, and unforgettable memories.
